Osage [Osage] noun (pl Osages or Osage)
a member of a ↑Native American people in the US state of ↑Oklahoma. Many of them have become very rich since oil was discovered on their ↑reservation (= land given and protected by the US government) at the beginning of the 20th century. The Osage had earlier lived in the ↑Ohio River valley and then along the Osage River in ↑Missouri. The US government moved them to the Oklahoma ↑reservation in 1872.
